Well Lalaine finally did it. She decided to retire from her nomad existence and settle down. She and Joe got hitched this past weekend on June 29th. We packed up Isa and headed to Connecticut to attend the celebration. It was Isa's first airplane ride. For such a little person she sure had a lot of baggage. Luckily we did not have to pack up her bassinet because the hotel was going tp provide one but we packed everything else minus the kitchen sink. I was prepared for the worse for Isa but surprisingly she handled the flight pretty well.
We were not, however, prepared for the 95 degree humid weather in Connecticut. We had even gone out and bought long sleeves for Isa because I was told that the weather was mild to chilly. I think it would have been bearable since we floridians are used to hot weather as long as we have our air conditioner. Unfortunately houses in Connecticut aren't built with one. Emily called me a primadonna due to my constant whining about the heat. Sorry Lalaine and Joe.
I must say though, the wedding turned out beautifully. It made up for the miserable freak hot weather we had to endure for two days before. It was like God giving his blessings to Lalaine and Joe. The weather could not have been more perfect on their wedding day. Mid 70's, nice breeze, and no humidity or rain.
After a harried morning of putting together tables and centerpieces, everything seemed to fall into place.
Of course I could not have finished it in time without the help of Tita Lyd, Tito Fred, Kat, John, Ron, Emily, mommy, Lal, and Tita Naty. Thank you so much. I loved how the centerpieces looked, the beautiful handmade placecards and table numbers Emily had so painstakingly worked on, and the vintage Carousel.
The DJ and the music they had picked was great. The speeches were tearjerkers especially my mom's but I loved Emily's speech the best. She had everybody going.
The appetizers were delicious. Looking back I wish I had gotten seconds on the frutti de mare. The reception and seeing how happy Lalaine and Joe was all made it seem worthwhile.
Isa loved the carousel and screamed joyfully as the horse she was riding lifted her up, down, round and round.
Coincidentally they were filming the fourth installment of Indiana Jones at Yale on the same weekend. Our hotel was right across Yale. (No wonder most of the hotels were booked. I'm so glad I booked way in advance.) It was cool to see how they transformed everything to look like the 1940's but it was also a bit frustrating trying to get anywhere since they had blocked off a good bit of the streets for the shoot.
The GPS did not know the streets were blocked and kept us riding around in a circle. I caught a glimpse of Harrison Ford riding the motorcycle but from very very far away. Microscopic almost. Oh well, he's an old fart now anyways. Calista can have him. We spent a nice Saturday morning wandering the streets of Yale like tourist before our flight back.
Of course we had to get an official Yale shirt for our little Isa. A little subliminal message doesn't hurt, right???
